Many Christians today are concerned about Satan appearing as an “angel of light.” Some teachers are promoting paranoia of deception in the body of Christ.

Yet there are two sides of discernment, and two sides of deception. True discernment not only perceives what is not of God, but also what is from God. Scripture doesn’t only warn against the deception of receiving Satan as an angel of light. It also warns against “teachings of demons” rejecting that which is good.

The Pharisees were some of the most deluded people in history. God. God himself came to them in the flesh, but they said he did his work by the power of the devil. Jesus then warned that those who blasphemed him would be forgiven, but those who blasphemed the Holy Spirit would never be forgiven. Attributing God’s work to the devil is the most serious kind of deception that a person can fall into.

Why are we so quick to imagine that anything supernatural happening must be from Satan? The Bible suggests that there are twice as many angels as demons. The KJV New Testament uses the word “signs” only six times in reference to demonic, lying signs and wonders. It uses it twenty-eight times in reference to signs and wonders from God!

This book examines the side of deception that most people seem to ignore. It addresses and refutes several of the most common fallacious arguments criticizing signs and wonders, and then points out how to discern what is from God as well as how to Biblically discern what is false.

This short book is partially adapted from a section of The Power-And-Love Sandwich: Why You Should Seek God’s Face And His Hand.
